September 17, 2025 American Job Center Management 4058 Minnesota Ave NE Washington, DC 20019 Dear American Job Center Management, I am writing to formally address concerns regarding my most recent visit to your office. I arrived on time at 9:30 a.m., as I had been instructed to be there by 9:45 a.m. Despite my punctuality, I was not seen until 11:45 a.m., resulting in nearly three hours of waiting without any communication or follow-up from staff. During this time, an employee incorrectly suggested that I had not been waiting as long as I had, which I found both dismissive and unprofessional. Additionally, the front desk staff member who initially saw me (a light-skinned woman wearing yellow shoes) did not check in with me again throughout this extended wait. When I was finally seen, the intake specialist who assisted me was courteous and professional. However, our conversation was interrupted by another employee who loudly insisted that a client who had arrived almost two hours after me should have been seen first. This interruption was disruptive, unprofessional, and unfair. I have also observed, on multiple occasions, that another employee—a woman dressed in pink—displays a consistently negative attitude when interacting with clients, myself included. I respectfully request that these issues be addressed. Specifically, I encourage improvements in: • Time management – ensuring that clients who arrive on time are acknowledged and served promptly. • Professionalism – ensuring staff communicate respectfully and refrain from dismissive or disruptive behavior. • Customer service – hiring and training employees who demonstrate a genuine willingness to assist clients. The young lady helping out at 899 north capital on 11/21/25 was super unprofessional, she called herself the “claim adjuster” and was seated next to the usual greeter at that office. When I initially came in she told me the issues I came in for was incorrect, after I explained myself she realized she was wrong herself. She very much stereotyped me and thought I was some typical DC YN. I have a strong background in Customer Service, particularly working for DC Government for 3+ years, therefore I like to think I can recognize when I’m being played with and sized up. She needs to be educated to do her job at a diligent level despite what she may personally think about a persons appearance, skin color, etc. I came in simply for a payment re issue. Originally she acted like my payment was already issued. After I explained the system she works for and how I haven’t received my last payment, she stated she would put in request for re payment and assured me it would be done that day. Just for context, in the past, workers was able to re issue payment in front of me. I took her word for it, end of day passed and no payment issued. Now I have to wait until Monday. This is unacceptable DC is hiring people who don’t want to do their job. Plenty of people in this city who when they show up they are willing to do their job!

I had a wonderful experience today. Went in to verify my ID. Everyone was very friendly, helpful, and professional. Answered all of my questions and there was always someone circulating to help. The security lady had me remove my inhaler, so she didn't touch it while searching my purse (which I appreciated). Once I saw the agent, she got me taken care of quickly. I also used the computer side to do my initial claim and everyone on that side was awesome. It really made my day given the reason I was there.

Ms. Mendez treated me like an actual human 🥹 going through tough times, we need more people like her, everyone else made me feel invisible or like I did something wrong, I got accused of having a attitude when I was actually feeling defeated, she didn’t misjudge me, she saw me and got me in the program on time 🥲
