I have submitted my resume for multiple open positions. While I would never suggest that my qualifications are superior to those of other candidates, I am confident that my resume is not subpar and reflects solid, reputable experience that would reasonably request at least an initial conversation. Instead, I often receive an automated rejection email almost immediately after submitting an application. In addition to applying through their posted roles, I have also sent my resume directly to Mahler’s general email inbox. This pattern has led me to question whether my materials are actually being reviewed before a decision is made. I am hesitant to raise concerns related to race, but I cannot ignore the perception that Mahler primarily serves high-end clientele and that minority representation among candidates placed may be limited. I raise this not as an accusation, but as a genuine concern based on my experience and the lack of transparency in the process. Lastly, I lived and worked in Chicago for many years and initially applied to Mahler while based there. I have since returned to my hometown of New York City; however, my candidate profile still reflects my former Chicago location, outdated cover letter, and the Chicago-based roles I previously applied for. I emailed the office to address this issue and spoke with Catherine B. in May 2025. While our conversation was pleasant, no updates appear to have been made to my profile, and the outdated information still remains. Given that Mahler represents positions with compensation packages in the $250,000 range, it is difficult to understand why the candidate management process is so outdated and rigid. A more modern and responsive system would better serve both candidates and clients and would reflect the level of professionalism associated with the roles Mahler advertises.

I was very disappointed by Mahler's lack of professionalism. Considering that this agency considers themselves a premier staffing agency, I was surprised when two different recruiters contacted me for two different positions, scheduled interviews, and never kept our appointments. The first recruiter ghosted on the interview completely. The second recruiter wasted my time over the course of two weeks, constantly rescheduling our interview but couldn't seem to actually commit to the call. You only get one shot at a first impression and employers/agencies seem to forget that it works both ways. I've given them quite a few chances to redeem themselves but they've blown it every time. Edit: And no, I am not confused. I know exactly who I went thru.

Working with Joel, and the other representatives that I have met through the recruiting process with Mahler Staffing, has been a pleasure, every step of the way. They are the most professional staffing company that I have ever met, and in my career as a governess turned nanny turned household manager turned personal assistant, I have met quite a few. Oftentimes, I have turned down staffing companies because of how disorganized or unimpressive they seem, but Mahler struck and impressed me as the complete opposite. They are 100% concerned about their clients - both the employers and the employers. It took multiple interviews before I started in the position that they placed me within because they wanted to make sure that they knew me well and could place the right person in the right role on the first try. On the flip side, they found two lovely families for me to consider positions with and helped me along that way in deciding which role may be a better fit for me. I can't thank Joel enough for his patience and coordination. Undoubtably he must change so many lives for the better with his careful consideration. If you're looking for an agency to help you find the right employee, or employer, go with Mahler.
