Typical of government, nobody thought of the user experience. The cashier office echoes really badly and it is overstimulating. Minimal seating. It's difficult to get someone's attention if you need help checking in. The building entrance is on the opposite side of the parking structure. The building design is a joke. Looks cool, terrible experience.

1711 Harbor Ave, Long Beach, CA 90813This yard is using the streets as storage for their containers. The trucks have taken over the streets at pch from the 710 to Alameda. The ticket maid keeps giving people tickets for parking but they do nothing about the trucks (with trailers attached) there is nover to park and now we are having to compeat with the trucks for parking. The city authorized more trucking yards but they are over flowing and are using the streets for parking some times the trucks dont move for days to weeks and the city does nothing. I blame the major the yards the city authorized were too small for the volume of trucks they have.

Just called Long Beach City Hall to get information on parking permit. The person who answered the call 10/23/2025 were unfriendly and raised his voice when I asked for confirmation on what to bring.

t’s truly a shame that the City of Long Beach has not taken advantage of the tourism that arrives through its cruise port. The area feels isolated, uninviting, and completely disconnected from the rest of the city. It’s as if the cruise terminal operates in its own world, with no relationship to Long Beach itself. In other cities like Miami, Orlando, or even places like Helsinki you feel a natural integration between the port and the city. There’s movement, energy, options, curiosity. You want to stay a few extra days, walk around, visit the local aquarium, shop, dine, explore. In Long Beach, unfortunately, you just want to arrive, park, and leave as fast as possible after your cruise ends. There are no alternative parking options, no real mobility infrastructure, no restaurants or walkable areas that feel welcoming or connected to the port experience. There is no feeling of hospitality, no message of "Welcome to our city", and that’s a huge missed opportunity. Long Beach is wasting millions of dollars per year in potential tourism revenue. With better planning, the city could encourage visitors to stay longer, spend more locally, and connect with the city. But as it stands, cruise passengers feel like an afterthought, and the cruise port feels cold, dull, and detached. It’s disappointing, especially considering the potential. Hopefully the city will reconsider its priorities and start seeing cruise tourism as an opportunity, not just a logistical operation.
